After lots of thoughtful prayer, we decided it was time to move from the Little Yellow House.  We knew we wanted to have another renovation project, and we wanted to stay in the same area. After a few months of looking, we finally found exactly what we were hoping for!  When we walked through the home the first time, we immediately knew that the house had amazing potential. It had many features that were unavailable in our Yellow House—an open floor plan, room to create a master suite, and space for an office and garage.

Neutrals are my love language, so throughout our home you’ll see lots of black, white, metals and natural colors. Our goal was to create a space that felt bright and happy, comfortable for hosting, and transitional for our growing family!  You’ll see many subtle farmhouse accents in our light fixtures, molding, archways, and our beautiful front porch.

This house was a full gut project.  We tore everything down to the studs and installed new electrical and plumbing. To make things feel even more open, we opened up a wall from the kitchen into the family room.  We made the master bedroom larger and reconfigured the bathroom and closet to create a beautiful master suite with lots of space and flow.

We wanted things to feel as spacious as possible, so we adjusted the roofline to create 9-foot ceilings in the kitchen and 10-foot ceilings in the family room and master bedroom.  Other touches that helped update the home and make it feel warmer and more functional included adding a garage, a front porch, and a back patio with a brick fireplace.

We changed the former family room into a spacious new dining room, with a beautiful archway doorway leading into the rest of the house.   The old dining room worked perfectly as a study, and we added french doors. The bones were there all along, but just needed some love and thought put into it to make it a more practical home for this age.
